Winter Done Spring Sprung
Before we address the weekend coastal storm threat let us look at today which startts off with lots of sunshine. However you can the disturbance rotating over the Great Lakes. Actually that is a nice impressive looking upper air disturbance there. It has been sitting there last 3 days and now a spoke is rotating around it. It will bring in some clouds later on today along with the chance for some passing showers late this afternoon into the first part of tonight. I d0n’t think this is a big deal and much of today will be dry with temperatures reaching into the low and middle 60s. Once the showers are done tonight skies will clear out again so Thursday starts off the same way today day. Lows tonight will be in the 40s to near 50.

Then the entire upper air system over the Great Lakes begins to move east and moves over us later Thursday. So after a sunny start look for clouds with showers later Thursday afternoon and evening. There could even be a locally heavy downpour. Highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s. The showers move out and then it turns colder for Friday with sunshine and highs just in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
Now with regards to the weekend storm threat, I have been standing against the idea of any kind of winter storm for the weekend. The Euro model and other models opened the door slightly yesterday. The problem continues to be what is happening in the west. All models overnight make it close for the coast but still everything is primarily offshore.
Winter Done Spring Sprung Euro Model Sunday Night Upper Air Forecast
The map above is the European run from Monday night and the one below is from last night. They are very similar and the models were very similar in their tracks of the coastal low. The overnight Euro model run was a little further east. The GFS model and Canadian models brush the coast with some snow but not anything that is worth worrying about. Unless that ridge in the west is stronger and further west, this is going to be a non event as far as I’m concerned. The highest chance will be for coastal New Jersey and Long Island.
