Damp Dreary Overnight
Much of the rain has shifted to the east and is impacting coastal areas while radars show little activity now west of the coast. The rain has been light in nature. The satellite loop shows the clouds overhead with large coverage over the Middle Atlantic States and the northeast. It also shows a storm on the eastern edge of the satellite loop not moving very fast which means that the system overhead will be slow to pull out.

Another low will form offshore later tonight into Tuesday which may prolong the light rain along the New Jersey coast and over Long Island and Southern New England but areas to the west in interior New Jersey may just see some spotty light rain or drizzle overnight. Temperatures have been struggling all day long in the 40s and will probably hold in the 40s overnight.

Tuesday starts out gray and damp but if things start moving along to the east, and the winds can back around to the north, we could see skies brighten especially away from the immediate coastal areas. Highs should reach the 50s and parts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey (away from the ocean) could approach 60 for highs. Areas to the north and east like Long Island and Southern New England might see their temperatures pinned in the low to mid 50s.
More activity is likely Wednesday as a warm front with another low pressure area to the north produces a few passing showers. Models don’t show much but I think it is worth mentioning a few showers during the afternoon. The greatest chances will be in areas to the north. Thursday sees another area of light rain or showers moving through until a weather front finally clears the coast line later Thursday night. Friday looks dry and colder and so does the start of the weekend.
With regards to the weekend models are focusing attention around some sort of storm system for the East. I posted yesterday about my skepticism concerning snow and I still remain skeptical on this idea. I will have a complete post on the afternoon models later this afternoon or this evening. The latest European has shifted the possible storm to the coast. It is doing this only to shame my skeptical post from yesterday. I still remain skeptical but as I said yesterday, I have an open mind. Who knows if this Euro model snow map is correct.
