Weekend Winter Next Week Spring
Now that the coastal storm that brought 4 to 6 inches of snow to parts of the New Jersey shore is moving away, we can focus on the weekend and next week. We will be making a transition from chilly wintry conditions (relatively speaking) this winter to a very warm springlike pattern for next week and possibly longer! The satellite loop tonight shows the major ocean storm that is moving away to the east northeast. It is very well developed with the classic comma shaped feature. Next on the agenda are two weak upper air disturbances coming southeastward in the northwest flow. both systems are weak. The first will produce some clouds during Saturday as it moves through. The second comes through later Saturday night and Sunday morning. With that there could be enough moisture for a few brief passing snow or rain showers Sunday morning in some spots. Other than that much of the weekend will be dry with temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s by day. Tonight will be cold with skies clearing out and a north wind. Lows will be in the 20s, especially in areas that have some snow on the ground.

Local radars are quieting down and there is nothing on the western or northern flanks to worry about through the daytime on Saturday.
Weekend Winter Next Week Spring Local Radars
Beyond Sunday, spring weather takes over beginning on Monday with highs in the 50s and peaking on Wednesday with highs reaching the 70s in many locations! The gfs model for 2pm temperatures on Wednesday shows temperatures in the mid to upper 60s all the way into Maine. It is our view that these numbers are at least 5 degrees to low. We should have at least some sunshine each day Monday through Wednesday.
Weekend Winter Next Week Spring GFS Forecast Temperatures Wednesday March 9th
Beyond Wednesday we will start having to pay attention to a back door cold front that will be dropping down from the north. It looks to get here sometime on Thursday. Right now there are no major storms on the horizon. In the longer term there is no sign of the warm pattern breaking down as temperatures look above normal for much of the next 2 weeks.
