Snow Accumulation Forecast For Friday AM
I’m going to take a shot here and lean to the more aggressive RGEM Canadian model since it has been very good over the last 2 years in cases like this. With the front stalling to the east and another wave moving along it Thursday night the stage is set. The important variable will be how much cold air will be able to filter down from the north Thursday night to make temperatures cold enough. All short term models seem to say enough cold air will be here after midnight Thursday night into Friday morning. This is my forecast.
Snow Accumulation Forecast For Friday AM Joe’s Forecast
Cases like this are never simple because the precipitation from the wave to the south will only make it so far north. It seems to favor coastal and eastern areas and less so inland areas. We will continue to monitor new model guidance later tonight to see if models trend more or less aggressive. This is another example of models being too far east and shifting westward at the last minute. It has happend both in small events such as this and in the Blizzard as well. We are still no closer in resolving the events for early next week because of the very complex upper air pattern. Check my latest JOESTRADAMUS post on this and my video from earlier today on the GFS long range model from overnight.
