Almost Hurricane Kate Out To Sea, Rain Overnight for NY, NJ
We have an almost hurricane in Kate moving very quickly to the northeast this evening This system is trapped in the warm sector of a non tropical low that is near the New Jersey coast. You can pick out th hurricane at the bottom of the bright white clouds you see off the east coast. You can also see the upper low in Ohio and West Vriginia that is driving rain into Western New York with an extension of moisture into Southern New England. There are still a few bands of rain to get through overnight and into Wednesday morning around daybreak but weather conditions should improve nicely on Wednesday with some sunshine developing from west to east from mid morning into the early afternoon.
We should be dry into Thursday morning but then here comes the next cold front. A deepening storm in the upper midwest will be moving across Southern Canada and bringing dry air to us along with chillier air for Friday and the weekend. This is going to bring temperatures back to near normal into early next week. The front itself is impressive until it reaches the east. Some showers should survive but Im not looking for any big deal here. Severe weather may occur in the midwest tomorrow but the bulk of the energy with this goes well north and west of us.
Thursday we should see highs into the 60s and then cooler weather Friday through Sunday with most highs in the 50s. Dry weather may actually last into Tuesday of next week before the next storm system attempts to make its way out of the southwest. No big storms are on the horizon for the next 7 days. Soon to be Hurricane Kate is going to merge with the weather system from tonight and become a large non tropical storm over the Atlantic Ocean.
