Humidity Increasing On Long Island Severe Weather Risk Saturday
Warm Dry Father’s Day
Changes are underway on Long Island as high clouds are increasing. A warm front is approaching and there are showers with this front as the regional radar indicates. Most of those showers will go by to our north but we will throw in the chance for an overnight or early morning shower. This warm front will also bring much higher humidity and the change is going to be radical since we have had bone dry relatively humidity the last couple of days. Be prepared for discomfort on Saturday as dew points rise to the mid and upper 60s. Temperatures tonight will drop much as most lows will be in the 60s.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
Saturday will be a very warm and humid day with some sunshine. Temperatures will rise to the middle and upper 80s in the afternoon though it might be a shade cooler at the shore. Wind will be west or even west northwest keeping the sea breeze in check. Late in the day watch for a shower or thunderstorm. The Storm Prediction Center has Long Island in a marginal risk for severe weather Saturday.
This cold front is not like the last one. The air behind it actually is rather warm but the humidity should come down a few notches making for a nice very warm Father’s Day of partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler at the beaches. It will be a very good day for Dad to do whatever he wants (under supervision of course!)
Monday should be dry with sun and arriving clouds with another cold front coming from the west. We could see some showers with this front Monday night into Tuesday before the front passes east. Another shot of dry air comes in behind it though it won’t be as forceful as what we experienced this week.
