COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH HUMIDITY GONE THROUGH SATURDAY

HEAT & HUMIDITY RETURN NEXT WEEK

The cold front we have been waiting for has move through and now the upper air trough is swinging eastward and explains why we have some clouds around this evening along with some scattered showers that have moving rapidly through. We don’t expect much from these this evening and after sunset the showers will disappear. Cooler air moves in overnight with some patchy clouds around. By morning lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s in most areas.

Thursday morning could actually start with some clouds as the upper trough goes by but we should quickly go mostly sunny by 8 or 9am and stay sunny for the rest of the day. Humidity will be very low and highs will be in the 70s to near 80. Thursday night into Friday morning will be nice and cool with many inland lows in the 50s.

Friday looks like another nice day with sunshine and low humidity with highs reaching near or just over the 80 degree mark. The high pressure cell bringing the nice weather will be overhead Friday but start to move out Friday night. This is going to start the return of humidity but it will be delayed until Sunday.

Saturday should be a nice day though there may be some clouds in the mix as the warmer air starts to arrive. It will be sunny enough on Saturday with highs into the lower 80s. Then Sunday we take temperatures and humidity up with sunshine and clouds and highs in the mid to upper 80s. Monday starts a stretch of 90 degree highs that should take us through most of next week. Back door fronts will have to be watched but it looks like the last week of August will have a very summery feel to them.

Hurricane Lane is getting ever closer to the Hawaiian Islands with 155 mph winds. Lane is the strongest hurricane ever observed in this part of the Pacific Ocean. Last night it reached 160 mph with a pressure of 922 millibars making it a category 5 hurricane. Even though the hurricane is going to weaken as it nears Hawaii it will still be a dangerous storm for the Hawaiian Islands. Check our latest video below on Hurricane Lane.
