HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONTINUES, GOOD SHOT FOR WIDESPREAD DOWNPOURS THURSDAY NIGHT

We had a very hot and humid Monday and that will be followed by another hot and humid day on Tuesday for all areas in the region from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. High temperatures will average in the lower 90s. Now beginning on Wednesday the winds will turn to more from the south and that will mean temperatures won’t be as high but it still we be just as humid. There is the chance for pop up showers and thunderstorms on both days.gfs48The high is moving out to the northeast in the Atlantic and you can see the southerly isobars to the west pushing as low pressure moves into the Western Great Lakes. Without a west wind temperatures will have trouble getting to 90 however the humidity will be high. With no really cool push coming this could last for awhile. A stronger distubance approaches on Thursday and at that point there could be a better chance for thunderstorms popping up in the warm and humid air mass. You can see the extent of measurable rain extending south into Eastern Virginia and the Eastern Carolinas. This is all ahead of a trough  That will eventually push to the coast. Behind it is more very warm and humid air. The dog days of August are truly here.

Update…thunderstorms and downpours for Thursday night into Friday morning could be more widespread in nature and everyone should participate in what could be a 1 to 2 inch rainfall for most.
