High Wind Warning High Wind Watch

High Wind Warnings are up now for all of Pennsylvania and much of New Jersey while High Wind Watches cover the rest of the area from Northeast New Jersey to the Hudson Valley, Southern New England and Long Island. They will likely go to warnings later Sunday. A powerful major storm is heading toward the Great Lakes and we have a large area of the Great Lakes and Northeast that will see winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 and even 60 mph not out of the question. The strongest winds begin Sunday afternoon across Pennsylvania and reach New Jersey late Sunday afternoon. The winds pick up to the east across the Hudson Valley and into New England Sunday evening.

Before the winds get here we have rain to deal with overnight into Sunday morning. Gulf moisture is streaming  northeastward though the lead area of rain on the regional radar remains to the South in Virginia. We will wait for a strong surge of heavy rain to come infrom the southwest later tonight into Sunday morning. This should produce about an inch to an inch and a quarter of rain in most places.

Winds will remain strong Monday with a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures in the 30s. Strong winds all day of 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 50 will put wind chills down in the 20s and teens. It will make for a very cold day indeed. Winds will finally begin to ease on Tuesday as the storm in Canada finally pulls away to the northeast.
