Hermine Rains & Wind Clipping Eastern Long Island
Most Of The Rain Passing East & South
Hermine To Weaken Next 3 Days
We have been watching the satellite loops and the radars all evening and you can see below on the loops that while some weak bands of rain have crossed Eastern Long Island most of the action is to the south and east. Hermine is moving steadily WNW at 10 mph or so and it will probably begin to weaken on Tuesday. Winds have been gusting around as well along coastal Connecticut and over Central & Eastern Long Island. We have seen some gusts to gale force at a number of reporting stations. The Southeast Coast of Connecticut seems to be getting some particularly strong winds with gusts above 40 mph.

Other than the areas mentioned above the rain will not move into New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, Western Connecticut or even Western Long Island.
With Hermine offshore Tuesday and Wednesday the big question will be how much cloud cover and how far west do the clouds get I think from just inland of the coast north and northwest there will be more sun than clouds while along the coast the clouds will be stubborn. That will create a wide spread in temperatures..from mid 70s where it is cloudy to mid 80s where it is at least partly sunny. This will be the case Tuesday and Wednesday. Assuming Hermine is gone on Thursday. we should see hot and humid weather into Friday with temperatures reaching the upper 80s and lower 90s. Right now the weekend looks warm with temperatures in the 80s. The next chance for showers or thunderstorms could come late Sunday.
