Heatwave Ends As We Await Arrival of Cooler Drier Air Weather Pattern

A cold front has passed through the area overnight but it is stalled right along the coast. The good news is that we are done with the extreme heat of highs in the mid to upper 90s and the ridiculously high humidity. However we are still not completely done with humidity levels. North of NYC humidity levels will come down somewhat today but most places will still be humid. It just won’t be as ridiculously humid as yesterday. Most highs today will be in the middle to upper 80s. This will break the streak of 90 degree plus highs at 8.

A second cold front will be approaching tonight into Thursday and we have a wave developing on yesterday’s slowly dying front. I don’t think we will see much in the way of any showers and thunderstorms today. However we could see some showers or a period of rain overnight into Thursday morning as the wave goes by. If that happens it shouldn’t amount to much rainfall wise but we will take what we can get.

Once any rain moves out Thursday morning we will spend the day with leftover clouds and perhaps a mix of sun and clouds developing. Humidity levels will come down and we await the arrival of a strong upper trough swinging through the Great Lakes and into the Northeast. That trough will be the catylist for bringing down humidity levels in a big way during Thursday night and especially Friday. There could be another shower or thunderstorm with that upper trough late in the Thursday but the chances are low

Most high temperatures Thursday will be in the middle 80s. Then we head to Friday which is going to be a nice day of sunshine, a nice breeze, and high temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s and we will be down in the 50s inland Friday night and lows 60 to 65 along the coast.

Right it appears Saturday will be a mostly sunny day with low humidity and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. We will probably see sunshine giving way to arriving clouds Sunday and highs again will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
