Heatwave 100 Degree Temperatures Coming Weekend
It appears that we could be setting up for 3 very hot days beginning on Friday and lasting through next weekend. We having been watching an upper ridge of high pressure to the west and south that up until now, has been poking its nose overhead. Up until now the northern jet stream would flex some muscle and bring cold fronts through along with nice dry air masses that follow. That is happening Tuesday and Wednesday this week with a shot of low humidity, sunshine, and temperatures in the more reasonable 80s. However it appears that the heat ridge will build in strongly for a few days at least. This will bring in some very hot temperatures. It would not be a surprise to see some areas away from the coast to challenge the 100 degree mark Saturday and Sunday. I think the best chances of that happening will be in New Jersey.

With the heat ridge in this position it forces the northern jet stream into Southern Canada and keep the cooler air there. Meanwhile we would bake for a few days under this scenario.

The GFS temperatures for 2pm Saturday show readings in the 90s everywhere and we can tack on a few degrees to these numbers which would give us highs between 95 -100. For Sunday it would be same or even a degree or two higher. There will be a west wind everywhere Sunday which will heat things up.

There are 2 chances for thunderstorms this week. The first would be Friday night with a weak front moving through and the second one late Sunday or Sunday evening which should being a cooler shot of air behind it for early next week. It looks like this will be a great weekend for the beach though the sea breeze will be hard to find.
