DISGUSTINGLY HOT HUMID DAY

Heat Humidity Through Thursday Cooler Cloudy Weekend

ANOTHER DISGUSTINGLY HOT HUMID DAY

We are finishing up another day where most of the area rose to 90 or higher. In fact Newark hit 95 today and the high humidity made it feel like it was 100. This is not exactly news since we went through this last week. We have more to go with generally hot and humid weather through Thursday. There were a few pop up showers and thunderstorms this afternoon that were widely scattered but most of them came and went within an hour of developing. Tonight will be a very warm and steamy night and only the lengthening nights is helping to bring temperatures down. We should botttom in the low to mid 70s.

Radars are busy in upstate NY and across the northern half of Pennsylvania with a line of strong thunderstorms moving southeastward. These storms are peaking in intensity now and should weaken later this evening especially after sunset.

Tuesday will be hot and humid with highs 90 to 95, heat indices at or over 100 and the chance for late day pop up thunderstorms. That was pretty simple and straight forward.

DISGUSTINGLY HOT HUMID DAY

Wednesday there might be a “slight” break as a back door front falls apart on top of us, but there might be some clouds, a light wind from off the ocean, and maybe a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening. This could lower the temperatures to 85 to near 90 instead of 90 to 95. Then Thursday it is back to 90 to 95 with the chance for late day thunderstorms with the next cold front.

It should turn much cooler Friday and the weekend but the big questions will be the onshore flow and how much rain will we be dealing with. The front stalls and then comes back up to the northeast at some point over the weekend. We will explore this further over the next few days.

Tropical Storm Gordon is heading for the Alabama Mississippi Gulf coast and Hurricane Warnings have now been issued. We also have the latest of Tropical Storm Florence and the forecast dilemma going forward.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
