Heat Humidity Increasing Wednesday Through Friday
With 100 Degree Highs & High Humidity
Excessive Heat Warnings are now posted from Southeastern New England to Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey including New York City and Long Island. Say good bye to reasonable dew points as well as humidity levels rise to very uncomfortable levels. We are seeing sunshine today and highs will reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees or even some lower 90s. Satellite loops are showing upper troughs moving over the top of a very strong ridge over the Eastern US. This is likely going to produce some severe weather in Northern New York and Vermont. The southern edge of the trough might set off a scattered shower or thunderstorm late today but for most of you it is a rain free day.

WEATHER RADAR
Wednesday begins the excessive heat as we will have lots of sunshine. Since temperatures will start off the day in the upper 60s to mid 70s in most places, the thermometer will soar. The heat ridge to the west will nudge into the Mid Atlantic states and we expect highs Wednesday to reach the middle to upper 90s in most places. Beaches should see local sea breezes develop bringing a bit of relief.
We will again throw in the chance there could be a pop up thunderstorm or two but the chances overall are low. Nights are going to be oppressive as lows will be only in the 70s to near 80 by Thursday morning. Thursday starts the 100 degree plus high streak that should go three days. Sunshine takes highs up to 100 to 105 degrees in many areas. The west wind keeps the sea breeze at bay even at the beaches. Thunderstorm chances Thursday are very low to near zero.
Friday will basically be a repeat of Thursday. The morning will start off with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Urban areas will bottom only in the lower 80s. Sunshine will take hold again with a west wind which means no sea breeze at the beaches. Highs will reach 100 to 105 degrees at the very least. Heat indices will be up around or even over 110. There is a slightly higher chance we could see some scattered thunderstorms Friday evening as an upper trough heads our way from the northwest.
The upper ridge in the Eastern US will begin to flatten out a bit and weaken over the weekend but there will still be plenty of heat around Saturday with a third day of highs over 100 degrees though it may be slightly lower than Friday. Thunderstorm chances are there late in the day and evening for the 4th of July holiday but it may hit some areas and not others.
Temperatures will trend lower Sunday with highs still reaching the low to middle 90s. We also will have risks for thunderstorms late in the day and evening with another upper trough moving through. The downtrend should continue Monday with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and the risk of thunderstorms. We may see a break in the 90 degree plus high streak a week from today as the upper ridge continues to weaken and gradually shift to the west into the Plains and Rockies for later next week.
