Happy Thanksgiving To All! This Norman Rockwell says it all!
Thanksgiving is my favorite of all holidays. It comes with family, good food, and a reflection of what is important in life. We tend to get wrapped up in all the day to day stress. Some of that stress is the world around us which has become a very volatile place. Some of is also self induced. It is a day to reflect at all that is good in one’s life. Family, friends, relationships, good health, a smile, a good laugh. These are the things that sustain us. These are the things that get us through day to day. These are the things that matter.
One of the things I loved about Thanksgiving is that it used to be the one day that was free of distractions of work, business, buying and selling. The last few years we have seen retailers corrupt the day with early openings. Shopping centers stocked with 50 dollar big screen TV’s and people camped out, often for days, just to get that new thing. I for one want no part of this. For me it is the table with family around it, roast turkey cooking in the oven, good food to feast on. There are 300 plus other days in the year for everything else. Save the shopping for another day. Also all of us have family members that are no longer with us so let us remember them and all the love they have brought to our lives. Remember them and remember the they joy they shared with you over the years.
Tomorrow we sit down with family. My wife, children, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends We laugh, we cry, we mourn, we hope, we smile. So enjoy your Thanksgiving and spend a moment giving thanks for your blessings and the hope of more blessings to come for you and your family.
