Winds Gusting to 40 mph Wednesday Storm Offshore Strengthens

winds gusting to 40 mph

We do have wind advisories up for the coastal counties of New Jersey from Sandy Hook southward. We might see those advisories go up for Long Island as well as a storm develops offshore and strengthens. We still have yesterday’s storm sitting in Northern New England and that will be transferring energy to the ocean storm. That will crank up the winds which will be gusting to 40 mph at times during the day Wednesday and into Wednesday night. Meanwhile upstate NY and Northern New England continue to put down the snow.

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are up for Northwest Pennsylvania, much of upstate New York and Northern New England. Some of the snow is lake enhanced around the backside of the New England storm and a strong upper trough swinging east. Snow forecasts are for up to a foot in some areas.

Back to the winds for us, we will see in and out sunshine as there will be clouds rotating through from time to time. Midday winds will reach 40 mph along coastal areas and into the 30 mph + range inland. No precipitation is forecast but between the wind and the chilly air, it will definitely feel like late November.

There are no rain or snow issues through the daytime Friday. We will see some sun on Thursday and the wind will begin to ease. Highs both Wednesday and Thursday will be just into the 40s. Then the pattern gets stormy again over the weekend and early next week.
