Gradual Turn To Average Colder Weather
Gradual Turn To Average Colder Weather
Over the next few days and perhaps through much of next week and beyond it seems like we will be returning to what looks like an average winter pattern. This means temperatures that area seasonally cold with average rainfall and a couple of shots for average snowfall. The trip downward in temperatures is a very slow stair step decline rather than one radical change because the air coming from Canada at the moment is not really all that cold.
When we look at the surface map this morning we can see that yes it is windy across much of the Northeast and Great Lakes with lake effect snow going on. It is also not that cold with temperatures on the map in the mid and upper 20s in the coldest air. While the temperatures are going to be in a downtrend over the weekend and into next week, they certainly aren’t going to be unreasonable.
On the satellite loop this morning you can see extensive clouds cover being produced by a large developing low in Labrador. This is going to sit up there in one form or another all weekend. Sunshine will be somewhat limited today by instability clouds but it will still reach the 40s.

Radars area showing some snow or rain shower activity and I suppose seeing one or two in a few spots is not impossible. The weather for the next few days will feature clouds and some sun with a gusty breeze. Temperatures will top in the low to mid 40s today..upper 30s to lower 40s Saturday and Sunday and in the mid to upper 30s Monday and Tuesday of next week. Models have backed away from a clipper system on Monday having any impact though they do show others coming into the mix later in the week and next weekend. We will have more on this later today.
