Gloom And Doom Weekend For Most Of You, Clouds Rain Ocean Wind

The weekend is here and unfortunately for those of you who live in Northeast Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey north and east it is not going to be an especially nice weekend. In fact this area will likely be stuck inside gloom and doom mode over the next 2 days thanks to warm front which is going to struggle to move northward. Areas from South Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania southward will get into the warmer air Sunday and this could at least bring in some breaks of sunshine in those areas. More on this later. Meanwhile today it is all about rain as the rainfall forecast map indicates above. This will be another 3/4 inch to 1.25 inch scenarios that will play out with heavier rain inland.

The satellite picture shows us socked in with clouds. The regional radar is loaded with moderate to heavy rain that is pushing eastward and we are beginning to see it spread across the local radars as well.

So it is gloom doom and rain into tonight. Temperatures in most places will be struggling in the upper 40s and lower 50s all day and then holding there tonight. Sunday it will be all about the warm front and how far north it gets (or doesn’t get).

Weekend Raw Rainy Saturday Slow Improvement Sunday Chilly Next Week

Just pick which side of the warm front you are on. To the northeast it is low clouds fog and some light rain. To the southwest it breaks of sun and warmer with the risk for a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon as a cold front passes. You can expect a wide range in highs on Sunday from mid 40s to lower 80s spanning over several hundred miles..

Weekend Raw Rainy Saturday Slow Improvement Sunday Chilly Next Week

Monday we could see some slow improvement with variable clouds with some sun near the coast and more clouds inland. I can’t rule out the chance for a shower. Most highs will be in the 50s to near 60 but it will be warmer near the coast and cooler inland.

We are in a blocking pattern for next week so that is going to keep things rather unsettled into Wednesday. The block appears to be strong enough to deflect the next storm system from the Southern Plains and allowing it to pass to our south. However the chilly onshore flow will be with us starting Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday which will likely keep us in clouds for much of the time and highs holding in the 40s to at best low 50s. Another weather system approaches for the end of the week with the chance for showers.
