GFS NAM CMC Video Analysis
Tonight’s model runs should have at least brought things closer together. While the GFS & Canadian models continue to show an offshore solution with a shift southward, the NAM has now for the 5th run in a row shifted even further north. The differences in the model stand out it has to do with the NAM’s speed with the storm now moving out of the Gulf states. Its faster and as such, lowers pressures faster which basically opens the gates to allow mositure to stream northward into Southern New England. The other models do not do this. They are much more progressive in nature and the upper features all take different paths.
The NAM upper low track is northeast while the other models take it further east with the GFS furthest east of all. It is pretty simple from that perspective. The NAM track and speed would mean a big snowstorm for New York City to Boston and all of Southern New England while the others would lead to trying to figure out where the lines between zero, 6 inches, and 12 inches lie.
