Freezing Rain Developing Inland

Freezing Rain Developing Inland

Freezing Rain Developing Inland now as warmer air aloft is sweeping northward. However the bottom of the atmosphere remains very cold and many areas just inland of the coast remain in the 20s.

You can see the radar echos overlaid on the map with the sub freezing temperatures. It will take awhile for those temperatures to break 32 but at least based on the radar loops that the first area of precipitation is moving to the east and the back edge will be out of here by noontime. Some icing will occur so be extra cautious if travelling. For the coast and South Jersey it is mainly rain at this stage and it will end shortly.

For the afternoon we will see only some spotty precipitation but it could be freezing drizzle inland until those temperatures break above 32 which they will do eventually. By tonight we should see temperatures rising through the 40s and into the 50s by Sunday morning before the next round of rain arrives.
