Freezing Rain Advisory Inland Precautionary
Freezing Rain Advisory Inland Precautionary
Yes there is a Freezing Rain Advisory up for inland areas north and west of the coast and we have winter Weather Advisory posted for Connecticut along and north of Route 84. However for the areas in Northwest New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Southern Connecticut, I think the advisory is precautionary more than anything else. There isn’t much on the radar at the moment. Temperatures this evening are close to critical however it seems that the when the rain arrives Tuesday morning, most of the area should be above 32. The further north you go from Route 84 I think there temperatures will be critical for a longer period of time.
Satellite loop shows clouds approaching as low pressure swings out of the midwest. The precipitation area is mostly to the north across Central Wisconsin to Central Michigan. There isn’t too much happening on radars to the south which would be more critical to our region.
We will continue to monitor local radars overnight as well as the temperatures. Much of the rain will probably move in after the bulk of the morning commute is done. For the immediate coast it is all rain regardless. Rainfall amounts should be on the order of a half to 3/4 of an inch. Clouds and drizzle will likely linger on Wednesday with some sun back on Thursday. Temperatures Tuesday will be in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Wednesday we should reach upper 40s to near 50 in most places.
Longer range looks very active but there is no real cold air to speak of through this coming weekend. This means the bulk of whatever we see will be in the form of rain. JOESTRADAMUS has more on this in his latest post.
