Hudson Valley Continues Overnight

We see the Freezing Rain Advisory still up for Sussex County in Northwest New Jersey until 10pm and for the Hudson Valley north and northwest of Route 84 until Tuesday morning. Inland north and north west areas will continue to see temperatures hover around the freezing mark or lower in the Hudson Valley north and northwest of Route 84. In Sussex County some higher elevations still have temperatures near freezing so some minor ice accumulation is likely there.

The storm system over Lake Erie is weakening and redeveloping off the New Jersey coast. We still have on and off rain to work through for at least the first part of tonight before the rain becomes more spotty in nature. In between it’s drizzle and fog making the overnight a pretty miserable one.

Radars are still busy showing some moderate to heavy rain moving through the area. Gradually as we move through the night the steady rain will lessen but don’t expect any genuine improvement in the weather until Thursday. With low pressure offshore Wednesday and an onshore flow, skies will be cloudy with some light rain or drizzle still possible with temperatures in the 40s. By Thursday look for some sunshine to return with highs in the 40s to near 50.

With respect to the longer range a couple of weather systems loom ahead. A weak one Friday night into Saturday that could bring clouds and a little light rain or drizzle. The second early next week could threaten with rain and wind as low pressure heads toward the Middle Atlantic coast. No cold air means it is a rain event. To read more about the long range check out JOESTRADAMUS on the Long Range and a follow up on today’s Canadian model which offered a rather bizzare solution for early next week.
