Florida Christmas In New York
We begin “Florida Christmas” week with a warm up that will peak with record high temperatures on Wednesday, all time record highs possible on Christmas Eve, and maybe even a leftover record high set just after midnight Christmas morning. It makes for probably the most Florida Christmas in New York we might ever see. What is even more remarkable is that this will be the case for all of the Middle Atlantic and Northeast including Northern New England. There won’t be any snow on the ground for skiers except on the highest mountain tops. They won’t be able to make snow anywhere! Take a look at these high temperatures for Thursday with 60s all the way up to the Canadian border as well as into Maine!
At least today looks good from the standpoint of travel as no rain is forecast if you planning any kind of getaway and of course in a time of year where a snowstorm is possible, there aren’t flurries to be found anywhere so your travel should be very easy. Temperatures today will be in the 50s everywhere.
Tuesday begins the threat for rain with temperatures in the 50s and a bit of an onshore flow as a warm front sets up south of us. We should see 3 shots of rain over the Tuesday through Thursday time frame. The rain on Christmas Eve will be the weakest and the most widely scattered in nature while the second shot for later Wednesday and Wednesday evening will be the heaviest. I think these rainfall amounts could be underdone with total amounts closer to an inch or so.
Christmas day looks dry and depending on how quickly it cools or doesn’t cool, we could still see a record high temperature for the date set as Midnight Mass begins and it is technically the next day. The bottom line is that the record pace continues. Much above normal temperatures will be the story all week with some rain but not enough to make things overly difficult. It is a Florida Christmas in New York.
