Flood Watch Friday NE Pennsylvania Hudson Valley Connecticut
Flood Watch Friday NE Pennsylvania Hudson Valley Connecticut
Front and center at the moment is the flood watch which is up for Friday as we will be seeing heavy rain combined with melting snow cover. The ground will be completely saturated so flooding will come rather fast should heavier rains materialize as advertised. Rainfall amounts will range from 2 to 3 inches across the Flood Watch area with 1.5 to 2 inches just to the south of the Flood Watch.
FLOOD WATCH RAINFALL FORECAST
The other issue will be late Friday night and Saturday morning and that will be icing that will occur. The icing area will extend into Northwest New Jersey and into the Hudson Valley mainly along and north of Route 84 as temperatures fall rapidly behind this frontal boundary.
Since this is a big travel weekend with the Monday holiday, if you are planning to drive upstate or into New England on Saturday do be extremely cautious as the icing will be significant the further north you go. Right now it appears that the precipitation will cut off before the cold air reaches the coast Saturday but for the entire area we could see things freeze up Saturday rather quickly as temperatures drop from the 40s to the 20s in a hurry.

Meanwhile there are no weather issues today into tonight other than increasing and thickening clouds. Temperatures will slowly make their way up through the 40s. Later tonight some scattered downpours will develop which will become more numerous on Friday into Friday night and Saturday morning. Temperatures will rise through the 50s and even some 60s are not impossible. Then as the frontal boundary moves through Saturday morning look for a wind shift to the north northeast and temperatures will fall rapidly. from the 40s and 50s to the 20s. Weather conditions will improve on Sunday though it will be very cold with some sunshine. Highs just in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Another threat for snow looms on Tuesday as low pressure will develop to our south and east. We will look more at that later today.
