Gale Warnings Coast

Coastal Flood Advisories

Moisture has been moving northward this morning around the large upper low to but be honest the radars have been decidedly underwhelming. Weather models have been over producing rainfall particularly along coastal areas around New York City, Long Island and Connecticut where not much rain has fallen so far. The upper low is spinning away to the west in Northeastern Kentucky we will continue to see waves of rain and showers from now into Sunday morning before weather conditions improve a bit.

Radars are busy and you can see rain that forms in the ocean moving northwestward. The heaviest rain has been over Delaware, South and coastal New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. There is rain southeast of Long Island this morning moving northwestward and hopefully that holds together enought to bring at some point today to Southeastern NY, Long Island and Connecticut.

Additional rainfall forecast amounts through Sunday are still in the 1 to 2 inch range area wide though I suspect areas to the south are going to wind up with more out of this. Temperatures both today and Saturday wont be much above the low to mid 60s with even some 50s in a few places.

Hurricane Matthew is now a category 2 hurricane with winds of 100 mph. Here is more on Matthew and the overnight GFS model.
