Sunshine & Clouds Weekend Looks Mostly Dry Warm

First Weekend of August Only Minor Weather Issues

First Weekend of August Only Minor Weather Issues

Here we are at the first weekend in August in what I regard as the second worst month of the year behind July. Lots of very warm humid days. 90s can still occur under the right pattern. We seem to be in a pattern where cold fronts will continue to come through every few days which complicates things somewhat but it does keep it from getting too hot and too humid for too long. We have minimal weather issues this evening. On the satellite picture we are seeing a few patches of blow ups that are translating into some scattered showers and thunderstorms.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Those thunderstorms are showing up well on the Fort Dix radar out of Mount Holly and they are primarily in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. They are moving southeast so areas to the north from Northeastern Pennsylvania across New Jersey into Southern New England will be rain free.

Less humid air lies just to the north in upstate NY and New England and some of that dry air will bleed southward this evening and tonight with most lows in the 60s to near 70 under clear skies. Humidity levels across South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania will remain stubbornly high Friday but there will be some humidity relief in North Jersey to Southern New England. Look for sunshine Friday with highs mostly in the low to mid 80s. If there is the chance for a shower or thunderstorm Friday it will likely be in roughly the same areas that are getting them today.

First Weekend of August Only Minor Weather Issues

Saturday looks like a decent summer day with the stalled front to the southeast and a cold front to the Northwest. It will be a very warm and humid day with some sunshine and the chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the 80s to near 90 degrees and the humidity will be on the high side.

Sunday morning the northern front moves through but it will be slowing down thanks to a wave off the North Carolina coast and another wave back in Arkansas. It shouldn’t be too bad Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds with the chance for a shower early. Lower humidity from high pressure to the north should start to move in during the afternoon. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. That high should hold on for a nice day Monday before we have to deal with any clouds and shower issues. Those might come on Tuesday of next week.
