Fast Moving Systems Cold Fronts Saturday & A Stronger One Monday
Yesterdays’ cold front and wave brought a gentle reminder that while the persistent winter cold and snow is done, it still doesn’t mean we can’t have winter weather. We are in a pattern of fast moving cold fronts and the next one is making its approach from the Great Lakes. A storm from there will head east across Southern Canada. Ahead of this today winds will be turning south southwest. Any sunshine will give way to arriving clouds. High temperatures this afternoon will be in the 40s to around 50 degrees across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England.

WEATHER RADAR
We do not expect much precipitation from this system. A warm front goes by to our north tonight and a cold front follows so we will throw in the risk for a rain or snow shower tonight. Temperatures likely will settle in the 30s. The Saturday we will go to a mix of sun and clouds with a west wind. High Saturday will be mostly into the 50s both along the coast and inland.
Sunday brings the next storm system and this one is going to be a powerhouse that heads from the Plains into the Great Lakes. The storm will have a strong north south cold front from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast. Lots of moisture is with this system and we will see strong to severe thunderstorms along its path eastward into the Ohio and Tennessee Valley and a big snow storm in the Great Lakes.
The southerly flow will bring clouds up the coast Sunday and we expect the dayside Sunday to be dry. Temperatures Sunday will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s from north to south. Sunday night tropical moisture from the Atlantic will surge northward with showery rains and steady or even rising temperatures. Monday will be windy day with gusty southerly winds. We will see periods of showers and some thunderstorms especially as the cold front nears. Highs Monday will reach the 60s before the front passes. Behind the front it turns very cold for Tuesday with some sunshine returning. However Saint Patrick’s day temperatures will likely have a very tough time getting out of the 30s.
