Easter Sunday Sees Showers Thunderstorms

Mid Morning To Early Afternoon New Week Start Cold

Happy Easter to all and on this Easter Sunday we have some changes in the weather to deal with. Warm conditions ahead of a cold front which will pass mid morning to early afternoon followed by colder air through Wednesday of the new week. Temperatures today will top in the upper 60s and lower 70s but that will come early. Showers will develop and pass through mid morning into early afternoon from west to east.

There could be a thunderstorm or two in the mix as the front passe but severe weather risk is low. We expect to see rainfall amounts on the order of a quarter to a half inch, depending on convection. Once the front passes we should see skies clear from west to east during the afternoon with a gusty northwest wind developing. Skies will be mostly clear tonight with Monday morning lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

WEATHER RADAR

Weak high pressure builds in for Monday Temperatures will be about 15 degrees lower Monday afternoon. We will see sunshine but there is another disturbance and cold front heading southeast from the Great Lakes so you can expect clouds to develop Monday afternoon. Most highs will be in the low to middle 50s.

The cold front could set off a couple of showers Monday night as it goes by but it marks the leading edge of a cold air mass dropping southeast from Canada. This sets up for a rather chilly Tuesday with gusty northwest wind and some sunshine. Highs Tuesday, which will be the coldest day of the week, will be generally in the upper 40s and lower 50s which is about 7 to 10 degrees below average.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be the coldest night of the week and lows will bottom in the mid to upper 20s inland and low to mid 30s along the coast and in warmer urban areas. Wednesday should be no worse than partly sunny and temperatures should bounce back up in the 50s. The core of the cold air moves offshore and we will see highs back into the 60s Thursday. Other than the Sunday rain and the scattered showers Monday night, it looks like we may be dry for at least a week if not longer.
