We are undergoing the transition from dry to humid to very humid as tropical air is moving northeastward. With the moisture building up some downpours have developed over parts of Central New Jersey with a second heavier area moving into Southwest New Jersey from Delaware. Elsewhere we are seeing some arriving clouds with temperatures in the 80s.

Weather Outlook For Tonight Into Thursday
The Storm Prediction Center doesn’t have us in a risk for severe weather. These downpours and embedded thunderstorms seem to be that type that produce heavy rains and some local flash flooding so we will be paying attention to this as we go into this evening. The latest HRRR model actually weakens these downpours as we go into this evening and that they are at the peak right now. The NAM model is not much different.

Regardless of the models, I’m leaving in the risk for downpours through tonight though most areas my not see much. Then Thursday will be very humid with hot temperatures across inland areas. New Jersey away from the coast could reach lower 90s. A lot will depend on cloud cover. Some thunderstorms are possible Thursday evening but again, models weaken much of what moves eastward.
Friday looks to be hot with highs 90 to 95. A thunderstorm can’t be ruled out Friday afternoon and evening. Right now I’m still being optimistic overall for the weekend.
