Dense Fog Overnight Slightly Better Sunday

A warm front is slowly moving northward tonight and with the onshore flow still hanging on we are sitting in a saturated air mass.  Some patchy dense fog has developed and this is likely to last until the daybreak. Some showers with the warm front are also moving northward along the coast. They will be firing up in the next few hours and moving through into the early morning hours over Coastal New Jersey to NYC Long Island and Southern Connecticut.

The endless stream of tropical moisture is still evident on the satellite photo tonight but it ha shifted to the east and it will continue to shift eastward on Sunday. This should allow some improvement on Sunday with some breaks of sunshine developing and temperatures reflexively climbing up into the mid 70s to lower 80s

The next system comes through Sunday afternoon and that is a cold front. It won’t have a lot of strength and some passing showers or a thunderstorm could develop with the front when it passes in the afternoon. Not everyone will see showers. Then once the front passes dry air comes in for Sunday night and Monday. We should see some sunshine Monday though clouds will likely arrive later in the day. Highs will be in the 70s. Tuesday into early Wednesday brings the next warm front cold front combination with the risk for showers or a thunderstorm.

Once that front passes it looks like high pressure will build down from Southeastern Canada and we may have stretch of dry decent weather Wednesday through Friday with some sunshine each day with temperatures in the 70s to near 80. It looks like it could turn warmer later Friday and into the start of the holiday weekend as the high passes off the Middle Atlantic Coast. Perhaps we could squeeze out 1 or 2 days of decent weather for the holiday weekend before the next cold front approaches at some point later next weekend.
