Cool Autumn Weather Through the Weekend As High Pressure Builds In

The cold front that moved through last night and this morning wound up overperforming with rain fall amounts of a quarter to as much as a half inch in some places. It isn’t a big out performance but dry areas are happy to get what they can get. In the meantime we have a strong upper trough from the Great Lakes to Eastern Canada and the rotation of clouds is evidence of such a circulation. This is going to keep things cold and unstable aloft so today we will see some decreasing clouds and probably some breaks of sunshine developing. However a few scattered showers could develop especially inland this afternoon into this evening due to the unstable nature of the atmosphere. Those showers however will be few and far between. Temperatures today will reach into the 60s in most places.

Usually the atmosphere settles down at night to allow for skies to at least partially clear and that will be the case tonight. Most lows will be in the 40s with 30s well inland. Thursday and Friday we will see two rather cool days. Both days probably start with sun or a mix of sun and clouds and then we spend the mid morning and afternoon going from partly sunny to mostly cloudy. Let us also throw in the chance there could be a passing shower or two especially inland though we are not talking about a high chance. As for high temperatures both Thursday and Friday will be in the 50s.

High pressure in Eastern Canada will be sitting there all weekend and in fact it will strengthen and send another shot of chilly air southward. Both Saturday and Sunday will be sunny days but it is going to be on the chilly side with highs both days just in the 50s. Sunday might be seeing highs just in the low to mid 50s with that cooler air coming southward. Saturday night and Sunday night we could start to see some freezes inland with lows below 32 especially Sunday night into Monday morning. No rain is in the forecast until later next week as a complex set up evolves in the Eastern US.
