Columbus Day Weekend Hurricane Delta Remnant Rains Due Sunday Night Monday

WEATHER IN 5 FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 2020

JOE AND JOE WEATHER SHOW THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2020 7PM

After a chilly start this morning temperatures are headed higher with a good deal of sunshine today. Temperatures will be bouncing up and we should reach the mid to upper 60s this afternoon for highs. Winds have come down from the past two days. Overall it will be a delightful finish to the week. Radars are nice and quiet all across the Northeast & Middle Atlantic states.

Meanwhile Major Hurricane Delta is headed for a landfall in Southwest Louisiana later this afternoon or evening. Delta might come off from its 120 mph winds as it approaches the coast which would be a little good news for an area that is seeing its second hurricane in 6 weeks and is still suffering from the impacts of Hurricane Laura.

For us the remnant rains from Hurricane Delta will be drawn up the East Coast over the weekend but will be protected by a large high that will be to our north. There are no issues tonight or Saturday. Tonight won’t be as cool with lows in the 50s to low 60s..some 40s in cool spots. Saturday look for some sunshine and clouds. Highs will reach the middle to possibly the upper 70s. No rain is forecast Saturday and a weak cold front will move through Saturday night which you will hardly notice.

Areas in Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey southward will see rains arrive later Sunday afternoon or by Sunday evening but north of there into Southern New England it will be dry. Clouds will be around on Sunday with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s but once we cloud over we will settle in the 60s. Rain pushes northward Sunday night and it will be wet for much of Monday Columbus Day. A wind off the ocean will keep temperatures just into the 60s at best.

Rain or showers could linger around on Tuesday because we have another cold front approaching from the west and it is likely to keep us in clouds and on and off showers into Wednesday. Late next week the weather pattern will turn cooler and drier.
