Columbus Day Holiday Weekend Forecast: Dry With Sunshine!

The Columbus Day holiday weekend is upon us and with it comes some variable but very good autumn weather with what looks to be a cool start followed by a warmer finish. First off for today outside of some passing clouds there are no serious issues as it should be no worse than partly sunny and in some places mostly sunny today though look for temperatures to to be 5 to 8 degrees cooler than yesterday. Most highs will be in the 60s with a few warm spots nearing 70.

A cold front begins its approach on Friday. it is not exactly loaded with moisture but there should be a few showers with that moving into western areas (Eastern Pennsylvania/ western New Jersey around or before lunch time. Some showers might get close to the coast in mid to late afternoon. We aren’t looking for too much out of this. 70s should be the highs everywhere. Then once the front moves out it keeps on moving. Then we have a chilly air mass for Saturday with clouds and sunshine but highs will run mostly in the low to mid 60s.

As fast as that chilly air mass builds in , it pulls out on Sunday. Notice to the west is very warm air in the Plains. That arrives later Sunday and Monday so we should be well into the 60s Sunday and into the 70s Monday with at least some sunshine both days and no rain throughout the entire holiday weekend

Longer term we see another cold front with a chance for showers on Tuesday and then it looks as if we could see a colder than normal temperature pattern for the middle and latter part of next week that might bring the seasons first frosts to some areas. There no threats for big storms over the the next 10 days and the weather across much of the United States looks almost unusually calm for this time of year.
