Colder Air Arrives Lasting Into Early Next Week

Gusty winds and sunshine are what we are looking at today and we can say goodbye to last night’s cold front. The strong winds from overnight continue into this afternoon but they have come off their highs. Winds will still be on the busy side this afternoon but nothing too problematic with gusts to about 30 mph or so. Sunshine will dominate much of the day and temperatures will be rather chilly and below average for November 1 with highs just in the low to mid 50s. No major issues on the satellite picture other than a few passing clouds.

We are done with the radars today and through the weekend and even into the start of next week. Tonight will be cold with clear skies and diminishing winds setting us up for possible freezes in parts of Connecticut and Long Island as well as parts of Northern New Jersey.  Most lows will be in the 20s to lower 30s Saturday morning with the exception of warmer urban centers which will be in the upper 30s to near 40.

Saturday we should see a fair amount of sunshine with a few passing clouds but it will be rather chilly. Highs will only make it back to the upper 40s and lower 50s. We should be in the mid to upper 50s  for highs in early November.

Chilly dry air continues into Sunday and Monday with Monday probably being the coldest day of this particular stretch. Look for some sunshine both Sunday and Monday. Highs Sunday will be in the low to mid 50s but it will be cold Monday morning with lows in the 20s to lower 30s except mid to upper 30s in warmer urban areas. This will probably be a night of widespread frosts and freezes.

No major storms are on the horizon for the weekend nor do we see any major storms next week as the pattern shows signs of relaxing. It does favor air masses coming down from Canada which will keep temperatures on either side of seasonal with perhaps a cold front or two passing through every few days.
