Cold Weather Gives Way To 70 Christmas Eve
Cold weather is not going to be here long. Cold relief is coming right away as tempertures will bounce beginning Sunday and will not stop rising until we get to Thursday night when 70 is doable for many areas. Cold weather can’t last when you have no blocking and a progressive jet stream pattern which moves everything along. Longer Range cold weather will depend on the changes in the overall jet stream pattern. JOESTRADAMUS takes a look at this as overnight runs of both the GFS & the European continue to show the polar vortex being attacked on all sides in the longer term
Again I would emphasize that we don’t know what this would mean from a practical day to day weather perspective. We don’t know if the breakdown will completely take hold. We don’t know what it means in terms of cold weather and how cold. Does the subtropical jet remain active? Is the dry pattern in the east going to remain in control? There are still way to many questions here to resolve. For cold weather lovers it is encouraging for you to see the model trends continuing now for a 3rd day and we are coming into the day 10 range now with some of the indicators and that is a positive sign.
Meanwhile Christmas Eve will see record highs. The GFS temperature forecast has 70 to New York City and that could be underdone!
