Cold Through New Year Chance Snow Saturday

This morning we are starting the day with temperatures mostly in the teens though we do have single digit reading inland north and west of the coast in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey & parts of the Hudson Valley especially where there is a bit of snow cover. The arctic air remains bone dry and other than a few patchy clouds we should see a fair amount of sunshine today. Temperatures however will struggle with highs just reaching the middle to upper 20s.

COLD THURSDAY MORNING FORECAST LOWS

very cold

Tonight will be very cold again with even lower lows as we drop down to the low teens and single digits everywhere. Through all of this there will be a bit of a wind as well so the wind chills will be in play and it will feel at least 10 degrees colder than the thermometer registers.

Thursday and Friday will be very cold with highs just into the 20s and lows in the single digits to low teens. Both days will be dry with some sunshine. As far as the last weekend of 2017 goes the forecast is a tough one. We have a clipper system that will be moving trough with an offshore low developing from it. A couple of more models have picked up on this overnight so we thought it might be a good idea at this point to put in for a chance for snow Saturday into Saturday night. With the bitter cold air overhead it wouldn’t take much moisture for a coating to a few inches of fluffy white snow to be produced. We will mention the chance for some snow for now and wait and see what models have in store for us later today. Snow or no snow the cold will be here through next week. Saturday’s highs will be just into the 20s and if it snows we could see temperatures drop back into the upper teens.

COLD NEW YEARS EVE BALL DROP TEMPERATURES

very cold new years eve

New Years Eve and New Years Day will see a reinforcement of cold air coming in. For the ball drop at Times Square Sunday night temperatures are likely to be in the low to mid teens under a clear sky with highs New Years Day just into the 20s.
