Cold Front Passing Through Snow Chances Continue

Through the Weekend & Into Next Week

A cold front set off a line of snow showers and some heavier bursts of snow. Most places finished up with a coating to an inch or so except for Long Island where the snow was heavier and 2 to 3 inches fell in some places especially in Suffolk County. That is all done and we are see some sunshine breaking out this afternoon. Temperatures should make it above 40 degrees in most places. Radars have for the most part quieted down and will remain that way for the rest of the day.

Most lows tonight will be in the mid 20s to around 30 degrees under partially clear skies though there will be more clouds to the south as the cold front slows and stalls across Virginia. A wave is going to develop on that weather front taking some precipitation along the boundary. Most of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England will be to the north of all the precipitation but some areas in Central and South Jersey and point south could see some snow or rain late in the day Thursday and Thursday night.

Clouds will be around otherwise and some sun as you head north especially New York City north and east. We will cover ourselves for a little snow or just rain for southern areas of New Jersey Thursday night and gone by Friday morning. Friday we finish the week with some sun and highs will be mostly in the 40s.

As far as the weekend is concerned, it looks to be mostly dry. There is another cold front coming for Saturday night and there are model hints of a little wave on it which might lead to a period of snow early Sunday morning. Saturday will be on the mild side with highs in the 40s to near 50 with some sunshine before the front passes. Sunday we will be colder with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Next week will start very cold for Monday with highs just in the upper 20s and lower 30s. We do see the GFS model showing a stalled frontal boundary with a wave to the south but for now we are going to see how this evolves in the coming days.
