Cold Front Brings Rain Thunder Later Today Tonight Dry Chilly Weather Weekend

A warm front is setting up to our south and it will be moving northward today. Clouds have taken over and there could be a little rain this morning scattered around. Some areas well inland could see a little snow in the early mix but by mid to late morning it is all rain. Much of what is on the radar for the first part of the day is on the patchy side. A steadier area of rain will move in later today.

As far as temperatures are concerned they will slowly rise and reach the mid to upper 40s north of Route 84 while everyone else should reach the 50s. Middle to upper 50s are likely in Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. Showers with some heavier downpours will move through later today and tonight from west to east and there could be a rumble or two of thunder in the mix.

The warm front goes by and the cold front follows with one last line of showers and thunderstorms Friday morning from west to east and then we will see improving weather conditions along with a gusty north wind developing. Rainfall amounts from this system will range from a half an inch or less as you go south of NYC and an inch or more as you go north.

As far as temperatures go Friday highs will likely be acheived early in the day before the cold front passes and then temperatures will likley settle in the 50s and then ease later in the day. Leftover clouds in the morning will likely give way to some sunshine during the afternoon Friday.

The weekend is going to turn out to be on the cold side with temperatures for a change close to average for this time of year. The cold front moving through Friday stalls offshore and a storm develops out to the east in the ocean. This storm is temporarily blocked from moving moving out to the east so it will help to draw some colder air southward from Eastern Canada.

We would expect to see breezy conditions while the storm is offshore to the east. Saturday and Sunday should see some sunshine both days. Highs Saturday and Sunday will likely be in the 30s and we will be down in the 20s at night. It will be a precipitation free weekend though folks coastal and Southeastern New England might see some snow back westward close to the coast. Next week sees no major storms with another system and front approaching from the Great Lakes but the ocean storm to the east limits the amount of room available in the atmosphere so this system should be weak and we could see some rain with at some point on Tuesday.
