Cloudy Skies Some Rain Later Today Into Tonight Week Ahead And Long Range

This Sunday sees moisture up and down the coastasl plain and for that we can thank a weak low developing off the Southeast US Coast. There is a warm front offshore that is pushing northwestward albeit slowly. The path of least resistence for this low is to move north northeast. It doesn’t strengthen much if at all but it is throwing mositure back to the coast as evidenced by the satellite loop. Cloudy skies will dominate the weather scene today and the question becomes how much of that coastal rain backs up westward.

The regional radar is showing rain pushing northwestward but bear in mind that the areas in blue and in the lightest color green are areas where the rain is not reaching the ground (or in the case of offshore, the water). Look for some rain or drizzle to develop along coastal areas of New Jersey and Long Island and the rain bands will move slowly inland but the further west you go, the drier the day will be.

Sunday high temperatures will be mostly in a range of 60 to 65 degrees. Tonight we will likely see some bands of rain and downpours. Again the heaviest rains will be to the east across Southern and Southeastern New England and Long Island. Again much less to the west of the immediate coast. Overnight temperatures will likely hold in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The week ahead is going to be a bit difficult to figure from day to day and clouds will likely dominate much of the time. There is still the chance for some showers on Monday and again Tuesday but it won’t be any kind of all day rain. In between shower bands we will see cloudy skies or even changeable sky conditions. It will be warm and it will also be humid through the first half of the week. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s to even a few lower 70s for highs in some places where the sun makes an appearance.

We do see another cold front arriving Wednesday with the chance for scattered showers and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s and that should be followed by improving weather conditions late week and possibly into next weekend.
