Clouds Arrive Off Ocean Rain Showers Tonight Thursday Dry Friday Saturday Showers Sunday

The onshore flow that began Monday continues today and the lower levels of the atmosphere have seen the dry layers eroded over the last 2 days. This has allowed clouds that have been offshore to move in westward and they will be sitting over us today. It is not a solid area of moisture at least for now so some sunshine should break through the clouds especially inland and that should take highs into the 80s today though right along the immediate coast it will be in the 70s.

The onshore flow is also starting to spread showers northward as the regional and local radars show. These showers might make into Southern New Jersey and along the south coast southward into Delaware but these showers should stay south and east of NYC and Philadelphia at least for today and into the first part of tonight.

Tonight and Thursday the moisture from off the ocean increases and pushes northwestward. This will probably bring some showers northward and northwestward though they will only make it so far north before the rain cuts off. Thursday’s highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s due to clouds and showers.

A cold front will move through Thursday evening and that will allow the next high to build in from the Great Lakes to New England. That puts us back into a northeast flow Friday and Saturday. The high should push far enough south to bring humidity levels down again and we should see some sunshine for Friday and Saturday.  It will be cool with highs both those days in the 70s.

The frontal boundary to the south starts coming back up as a warm front Saturday night so that puts us back in clouds and more humid conditions Saturday night and Sunday. Low pressure will head to the Great Lakes from the Plains and a cold front approaches so we are looking at a solid chance for showers and thunderstorms running around on Sunday. The best chances for showers will be in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Another high to the north follows bringing some sunshine dry and cooler air for the start of next week with highs in the mid to upper 70s Monday and low to mid 70s on Tuesday.
