Chilly But Dry Weekend A Cold Rain Monday Snow Well Inland

We made it to the 70s today though it took a while for temperatures to take off in some areas. Clouds were stubborn in some areas but eventually they did get out of the way. A cold front is moving through now and with it a few widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Much of the severe weather today occurred in upstate NY but things are starting to calm down now and we can move on to the weekend soon enough.

On to what will be a chilly weekend and certainly chilly when compared to today. Saturday we will see sunshine but there will be a gusty wind along with some clouds at times. Highs will be just in the upper 40s to lower 50s so a good 20 degrees lower than today. Saturday night will be cold and clear with lows in the 20s to near 30. Sunday will be cold with sunshine and less wind. Highs will be mainly in the 40s. Some clouds will start to arrive later in the day.

The high to the north is a cold high but it will be moving quickly out to the east. Low pressure heads to Ohio and dies out and a new low develops off the Delaware coast. There may be enough cold air for snow north and west of the big cities of NYC & Philadelphia for some snow at the start. Many areas will just change to a cold rain.

Some areas in Northeastern Pennsylvania to the Catskills and points northward could wind up with several inches of snow from this. Northwest Jersey and the Hudson Valley north of Route 84 could be in line for a coating to an inch or so. Amounts will be elevation driven due to the minimal amount of cold air around. For everyone else it is a cold rain with highs just into the 40s with 30s inland. Weather conditions improve Tuesday but another low brings a cold rain for most areas on Wednesday.
