Blizzard Warning GFS Model No Important Changes
I saw no reason to change anything in my forecast. The new GFS model gives an inch to 1.25 inches of liquid for the NYC Long Island Area with higher amounts west and south. To me it was pretty much the same as the last run. So I’m leaving my snow forecast alone.

This afternoons models have locked together with the European and the GFS very similar. There are some shifts north and south but they were south and in the level of normal noise. We can tell you based on the radar that precipitation is moving up faster which is what the NAM model and other short term models have been indicating. This lends credence to the short term model idea of snow starting up sooner in our area…between midnight and daybreak. South of 195 snow could arrive between 6pm and 10pm.
Satellite is very impressive and high clouds are racing rapidly northeastward.The upper air system appears very intense based on the structure of the circulation on the loop. A well defined twist in the clouds with that comma shape, which is a sign of a strong upper air system.

Radars are locked and loaded with snow getting close to the Washington DC area and spreading quickly northeastward.
