Beautiful Tuesday Rain Wednesday Into Thursday Cold Shot Friday Nice Weekend

We are enjoying a beautiful day of sunshine across the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states today. Areas that were affected by the wind machine have seen that machine shut down. We will have sunshine for the rest of the day. There aren’t any clouds close by. Temperatures this afternoon should make a run into the 60s inland. We do have a south wind so south and east facing coastal areas will likely finish about 10 degrees or so cooler. Radars are nice and quiet and should remain that way through tonight.

Tonight should start clear but some clouds will start to arrive late tonight ahead of the next cold front. Temperatures will hold in the 40s overnight in most areas. Weather conditions will deteriorate Wednesday as showers move across Pennsylvania and overspread areas to Southern New England during the day Wednesday. Temperatures Wednesday will be in the 60s inland and in the 50s along the coast.

Rain continues into Thursday morning thanks to a developing wave on the front that tracks right up the coast and into New England. Rainfall amounts from this system will be on the order of an inch to an inch and a half before it all ends from west to east Thursday morning.

This system will be a snow producer for the Central Appalachians northward into Northern New England. Snow amounts will be driven by elevation. There will be a large geographic area from Northern Pennsylvania to Northwestern New England that will see 4 inches or more of heavy wet snow. Some areas in the Adirondacks could see a foot plus in the highest elevations above 2500 feet.

Back to our area we will see it turn colder Thursday as weather conditions improve Thursday afternoon but the wind machine will be back on for late Thursday through Friday. Cold Canadian air will move in and by Friday morning, low temperatures will be in the 20s everywhere with wind chills in the teens.

Friday will be a blustery cold day with clouds and sunshine. Highs will just be in the low and mid 40s. Throw in winds gusting between 30 and 40 mph at times and we will have wind chills making it feel like it is in the 30s. It will be a brief taste of winter as the cold air mass beings to pull out on Saturday. We will be back down in the 20s and low 30s Saturday morning but the winds should drop off.

Saturday we will see sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with highs back in the 50s. A warm front going by might produce a couple of showers Saturday night. This should leave us with a partly sunny day on Easter Sunday though the morning could start with clouds. Highs will be back into the 60s. Next week will be driven by a developing block to the Northeast. This will push a backdoor cold front southward on Monday leaving us on the cool side for Tuesday into Wednesday. We don’t see any rain in the forecast until late Wednesday at the earliest.
