Beautiful Breezy Sunny Tuesday Nice Wednesday Memorial Day Weekend Weather Outlook

Latest on Subtropical Storm Andrea

We have a beautiful spring day underway with blue skies and sunshine but we also have some patchy clouds on the satellite this morning that will play through this morning. We have gusty winds thanks to low pressure to the northeast and high pressure over the Great Lakes. You can thank a tight pressure gradient and a little bit of May daytime heating. Highs will reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. We have no risk for rain for today and for Wednesday making it the first time in many weeks that we are going 48 hours without a drop of rain. Skies will be nice and clear tonight with lows in the 40s to lower 50s. Wednesday will be another sunny day with a high over head and less wind. Highs will reach 70 to 75. There won’t be much of a sea breeze today along the shore but there might be local sea breezes along the coast on Wednesday.

On the satellite picture this morning on the lower right is the season’s first named tropical system. This is Subtropical Storm Andrea with top winds of 40 mph. The system is weak and will likely be absorbed by the low that is developing over Nova Scotia this morning and heading to the east. This is the 5th year in a row where we have seen a “pre-season” storm. This is no threat to our weather whatsoever.

After Wednesday we begin to watch the next in a series of fronts heading our way. The major storm that is moving through the Western Plains today will head to the Great Lakes and weakens considerably. What is left will push a very weak warm front through here Thursday morning. There  could be a shower early Thursday morning as the warm front goes by before we see clouds and some breaks of sunshine for Thursday. Highs should reach into the 70s. Cloud cover could be an issue Thursday before a cold front comes through Thursday night with a few showers or a thunderstorm.

Weather Improves Overnight Dry Nice Spring Weather Tuesday Wednesday

Friday brings sunshine back to the area for getaway day to the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Friday’s highs will be in the 70s with no rain in the forecast. Another cold front approaches on Saturday but it should hold off until late in the day or in the evening which means much of the day will be dry with some sunshine. Highs in the 70s.

The jey to Sunday and Monday will will be what happens to that front after it goes by. It will likely stall to our south and put us under the influence of cooler air to the north. Energy back in the Plains will likely ripple eastward so it might be a matter of timing. As long as we don’t get into a prolonged onshore flow we should be dry much of the time Sunday and Monday. If it has to rain we might be able to time it where it does so Sunday night into Monday morning leaving the day side dry both days.

It will be about the front and timing for later in the weekend. Consider it a win if this winds up verifying rather than dealing with northeast winds, clouds, rain and temperatures just into the 50s. This at least gives you some dry time with seasonal temperatures.
