Autumn Chill In The Air But A Warm Up Begins Friday

& Lasts Through the Weekend

Morning lows across the Northeast US are the coldest we have seen since back last may. Many areas inland saw lows in the 40s and further north from Northeast Pennsylvania to Central New England we saw lots of lows in the 30s and even the first frosts and freezes in areas highlighted in blue and purple. Moving ahead to today we are going to see lots of sunshine. Today will be the coolest day of this stretch. Most highs today will be in the low to middle 60s with a northeast breeze.

We are headed for another chilly night of clear skies. Lows Friday morning will be similar to what we saw this morning with low 50s coast and urban areas, 40s inland and 30s well inland. Satellite loops show nothing but clear skies and radar loops are nice and silent and they will remain so for the next 6 days or so.

The overall pattern remains the same through the weekend and into early next week. We have this cool high pressure cell that will reform over the Middle Atlantic states. This is going to allow warmer temperatures to develop with winds going from northeast to west and southwest. It also will be dry right through the weekend over much of the eastern half of the United States.

All patterns no matter how dry or how wet eventually break down and this one is no different. We do have a cold front that will be heading eastward for the middle part of next week. Eventually the onshore flow in the Southeast and Gulf of America will moisten the atmosphere in the Southeast US and that moisture will bring showers and perhaps a thunderstorm next Wednesday.

Ahead of this we have 5 more days of dry conditions. Friday we will see plenty of sunshine. Temperatures Friday after a chilly start will reach the upper 60s and lower 70s as winds turn more south. Friday night into Saturday morning won’t be as cool as past nights. The dayside Saturday will be warm with sunshine taking highs to the upper 70s to near 80 degrees inland. It will be a little cooler along south and east facing shorelines.

Sunday will be a mostly sunny day. The day might start off with some patchy low clouds and fog in some areas but that should all burn away quickly. Sunday highs will be in the upper 70s to some lower 80s. Again it will be cooler along south and east facing shorelines. Monday and Tuesday look to be about the same and then we deal with the first chance for rain in 10 days next Wednesday as a weather front arrives.
