August Dog Days Roll On 90 Degree Plus Highs Monday Into Thursday
The second half of the weekend has us pretty much in the same place as the first half. Satellite loops show mostly cloud free conditions. Showers and thunderstorms are in the upper Midwest and we have showers and downpours along with clouds in the Southeast US. This leaves us in the sweet spot. One important change today is the wind direction which will be more from the south. This will allow inland areas to warm up today into the middle and even a few upper 80s. Coastal locations will see temperatures in the 70s to near 80. Skies will generally be partly to mostly sunny. Humidity is rising but still not unreasonable. No rain is in the forecast so enjoy the day. Tonight we see nothing more than some passing clouds and lows will be mostly in the 60s except near 70 in warmer urban areas.

WEATHER RADAR
Beginning Monday winds will be turning more southwest as high pressure heads offshore. We will see temperatures and humidity levels rising for the first half of next week. Models indicate that a weather front will approach late Wednesday and linger around Thursday. These will be the first two days where we have risks for scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
Dew points have been remarkably tame over the last several days hovering in the upper 50s and lower 60s during the daytime and that has kept the comfort levels reasonable for the most part. This changes beginning Monday as dew points will start to climb higher and by the time we get to Wednesday, dew points will be in the uncomfortable low to mid 70s.
Monday will be the first of 3 or possibly 4 days of temperatures climbing near or above 90 degrees and we will likely see temperatures go a little higher Tuesday and Wednesday. Skies Tuesday will be partly to mostly sunny again. Highs will reach the lower 90s in general with 70s to near 80 at the beaches.
Wednesday will be hottest day this week as highs reach the low and middle 90s. Also Wednesday brings the first chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. We will see temperatures ease somewhat Thursday with highs in the mid 80s to near 90 and still the risk for a thunderstorm. Friday will be cooler thanks to a developing onshore flow but it will also be dry.
