Another Round of Rain Before Colder Drier Air Arrives Sunday

The dreary raw weather continues tonight as we are seeing clouds everywhere and there is more rain to work through though how far the northern edge of the rain gets remains to be seen. You can look forward to some rain overspreading much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England tonight into Saturday morning. Temperatures have been in the mid to upper 40s all day and will likely hold at these levels all night. When it is not raining it will just be damp with drizzle and some patchy fog as well.

REGIONAL RADAR

Regional radar is showing broken patchyes of rain developing across Virginia and Maryland sliding northeastward and they are beginning to make appearances on the local radars as well. Nothing is showing up to be especially heavy at the moment. Most of the rain is on the light side.

Most of the rain will move out Saturday morning as low pressure begins to form just east of New Jersey and south of Long Island. The  rain could linger in Southern New England and Long Island into the afternoon. Then as the backside kicks in, one more patchy of rain will kick in along the immediate coast Saturday evening before pulling away to the northeast. Saturday’s highs will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s though in South Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania it could reach upper 50s and lower 60s. Then weather conditions should improve somewhat for Sunday.

We say somewhat improve because the strengthening storm off the coast of Nova Scotia and high pressure to the southwest will create a tight pressure gradient so look for it to be windy at least for the first part of Sunday. While we might start off with some sunshine, clouds will be rolling in as a system from Canada races southeastward. Highs Sunday will be in the chilly upper 30s to some lower 40s.

Sunday night brings a weak upper trough through and that might trigger off a few snow showers for Northeastern PA to Southern New England. Once that goes by Monday should be dry with some sun and clouds. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s. Then we have another weather system coming out of the Ohio Valley and heading northeast for Tuesday.

Once again cold air is lacking at the coast but well inland it could be a snow producer as the low moves northeastward. We will have more in this system and the longer range over the weekend.
