A Rather Cool Weekend & A Chance For Rain
Coastal Areas New Jersey to Southern New England
We are heading into the weekend with an unusually chilly weather pattern for the beginning of May. The satellite and radar loops show a quiet day clouds are moving out of the Lower Great Lakes and head east. So is an area of light showers. Ahead of this through the dayside we will have sunshine and then some clouds will arrive during the afternoon. High temperatures today will generally be in the upper 50s to a few lower 60s in warm spots. This disturbance aloft and the weak cold front associate with it will set off some scattered showers later this evening into the first part of tonight. Those showers should be mostly done during the early morning hours. Most lows will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s by Saturday morning.

WEATHER RADAR
As move on to Saturday we have a storm system crossing the Deep South overnight and then off the Southeast US coast Saturday morning. The low tracks up the coast and offshore but the western flank of the rain shield will come close to the coast. Areas along the New Jersey shore as well as Long Island, South Coastal and Southeastern New England will get some rain out of this.
Regardless of whether it rains or not it will be a cloudy gloomy Saturday. Rain along the coast would come in for a few hours in the afternoon and Saturday evening before pulling away to the east. As far as temperatures go Saturday, they will be basically be going nowhere with highs just in the 50s. Where it winds up raining temperatures likely settle into the 40s.
We should see improving weather conditions later Saturday night as the low goes out to the east and winds turn to the north and northwest. By Sunday morning, most lows will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Sunday dayside looks to be no worse than partly sunny, breezy, and on the chilly side. High temperatures Sunday will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees in the warmest spots to the south.
There should be a brief warm up early next week as one chilly air mass pulls out to the east. However the warm up is not going to last long because the upper flow remains strong from the Northeast thanks to a jet stream pattern coming out of Canada and into the Eastern US. Highs will be back into the 70s Monday and we could see highs reach 80 or so Tuesday ahead of the next cold front and the next round of showers midweek.
