A Mostly Nice But Cool Weather Weekend
Chance for Showers For The Middle of Next Week
The weekend is underway and it is the last weekend of the summer season. Autumn officially arrives Monday when the sun cross the equator but the reality is the back of summer weather was broken during the last 10 days of August. Other than the odd very warm day here in there it has been mostly on the cool side with reasonable humidity much of the time. We have also not had much in the way of rain. That might change this coming week. In the meantime today we have mainly sunny skies. There isn’t much of anything going on radar wise. High temperatures today will be in the lower 70s for the most part. 60s will be common along south and east facing shorelines.

WEATHER RADAR
Tonight is going to be a very cool night across much of Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, Long Island & Southern New England. Skies will be mostly clear and winds will be light. Most lows will be in the low to mid 50s but just inland north and northwest as well as northeast of the coast it will be in the 40s. Sunday should be no worse than partly sunny as the onshore flow continues to keep things on the coolish side. Highs Sunday will be again in the lower 70s with 60s along south and east facing shorelines.
As we move into the new week and the new Autumn season we will start it off dry Monday into Tuesday. However we do see some changes in the upper air pattern going forward that may open the door to some much needed rain. A cold front will approach Tuesday and this could set off some showers or even a thunderstorm or two late in the day Tuesday into Tuesday night.
Energy from an upper air storm dropping southeast into the Ohio Valley will cause the front to stall and a wave to develop on it. That sets up for perhaps a more important chance for rain or showers Wednesday night into Thursday. Ahead of this Monday should be no worse than partly sunny. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s with cooler readings along south and east facing shorelines as winds turn more south.
Tuesday could be rather warm with highs reaching into the 80s before we see some showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms late in the day. The front goes by. We will be in a bit of a lull Wednesday and it will still be rather warmish and then we get into the elevated risk for rain or showers come Wednesday night through Thursday night. It has been extremely dry and some areas are approaching drought conditions again so this may help ease some of the pressure. Enjoy the weekend. Summer is over!
