A Breezy Cold Day And Night Ahead Warmup Begins Thursday No Rain Through Sunday

Overnight winds created enough mixing to keep temperatures relatively uniform and we bottomed this morning in the upper 20s and lower 30s. This took care of the last few places that had not gone below 32 degrees. Now we move on to a day of sunshine, a gusty wind at least for awhile, and temperatures today that will only reach the upper 30s and lower 40s for highs. There are just a few clouds on the satellite in the Northeast and mostly north and west of the coast. The radars are showing some small bands of lake effect snow showers in Upstate NY but those should gradually die out today.

The core of the cold air mass will be moving overhead tonight so with clear skies and light winds we should see areas away from warmer urban centers drop to the upper teens and lower 20s while those warmer urban areas around NYC and Philadelphia will be in the upper 20s to around 30 degrees by morning.

Once we get past daybreak Thursday the wind will kick in from the west and west southwest which will allow temperatures to being to bounce higher. We look for a fair amount of sunshine Thursday with highs reaching the upper 40s to some lower 50s in most places.

There are no changes in the rather benign outlook for the weekend and much of next week. High pressure offshore and other than a weak front that moves through late Friday which you will hardly notice, the weekend should be fine and no rain is forecast until late Monday when another cold front arrives. That front doesn’t look especially threatening other than a few passing showers.

We will forecast some sunshine each day, Friday through Sunday, with highs each day in the upper 50s and lower 60s. What keeps this from going higher is that the flow will be onshore Saturday and Sunday so with a northeast wind vs a southwest or west wind, we will see temperatures kept somewhat in check. Also the onshore flow could mean some low cloud issues and limited sunshine. Other than that the weekend should be fine.  The benign pattern continues next week. A weak front on Monday and another weak system coming up from the south Wednesday opens the door for rain changes but nothing major is forecast here. Thanksgiving is looking dry and mild.
